The Pierce crew is back!  Although we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to our ol' stomping grounds, it's nice to be back in sunny, San Diego.  We squeezed in some beach time, a lil' art, a week of hip hop camp and football, football, football before the first day of school.  Harrison is playing tackle ball, and Anderson is starting his first year of flag football.  AJ's coach has said on numerous occasions that he 'cannot wait to see that kid in pads.'  So I'm sure Anderson will be sporting them as soon as possible.  Football here is intense.  I've never seen a program like this.  The kids play on the High School field!  They have cheerleaders, an announcer and concessions.  It's like a High School game with little people.  I teared up for their first game; I couldn't help it.  It's such a big deal, and the kids are so excited. (*by the way, many thanks to all who supported the boys in their walk-a-thon- they met their goals!).

We are completely embracing our Bronco blue!  Jay has even volunteered to be the Business Manager for Harrison's team.  He's responsible for weigh in's, equipment checks and minimum play tallies.  He must attend all games and work the sidelines.  And he gets a lanyard, which allows him unlimited access to the field... so he's 'kind of a big deal.'

The boys are both playing defense most of the time.  Believe it or not, our timid Harrison is an aggressive lil' guy on the field.  He loves to tackle!  Anderson does too, but that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.  (We have to remind him at times that he is on the flag football team, no pads = no tackles).  Karrington wears her cheerleading skirt for the games.  She gets her pom poms out, but she's most interested in the snacks offered at the concession stand.  Her favorite seems to be the rainbow snow cone... in 104 degree heat, it's a messy one!

The kids first day of school went well for all of them.  Harrison's teacher looped with her class, so he was excited to start the year off with a sense of familiarity... same classroom, classmates and teacher (*new content though!).  Anderson quickly made friends with his classmates, and he's adjusting very well.  When we pick him up from school at the end of the day, he addresses almost every child on the playground- sharing high fives, a wave or a goodbye.  He's such a trip!  He's our natural sales man.    Karrington loves her preschool too.  Her class is a parent participation arrangement, so I get to volunteer two days out of the month.  She attends every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30-11:30.  She's quickly made friends too, but I'm noticing she's a bit on the bossy side.  For instance, before snack recently, she asked her friend, 'do you want to sit with me?  can you carry my lunch box?'  I couldn't believe her buddy obliged her!

It's been fun watching our little ones adjust to their busy lil' lives.  They are growing up so fast...
