What a fun filled summer! We spent time with family, tried a few new activities, and enjoyed some of our favorite hobbies too. We always love a visit to the zoo. The boys were fascinated by the penguin display on our last trip, as the penguin signs represent their real life sizes. The King and Emperor penguin are "really huge." I don't know that I'd want to go up against a live one! Karrington really enjoyed the playground area this year. She liked to sit in the middle of the small yellow tunnel, blocking bigger kids from getting through, while sitting just out of reach from Mommy's arms. She's a stinker!
The boys tried a few different sports camps this year. Lacrosse, soccer, basketball... our lil' guys are becoming quite the athletes!
We were also able to spend some quality time with family. The boys loved catching frogs with Pop at Aunt Sandy & Uncle Jack's place, although the fresh catch didn't live as long as they had hoped. However, they still had good luck catching frogs and other amphibians in our backyard, which they would then sell to the neighbor kids. Already business-minded; that's our boys!
Of course we spent as much time as we could at the lake! We took the boys to a rainbow trout farm where they caught some whoppers! Harrison was in heaven. He has the patience of a saint when he fishes... he can sit from sun up to sun down. Now Anderson is a completely different story, so the fish farm was ideal. The boys would put their pole in the water and within seconds, a 'big one' would bite. We caught 6 fish in a half-n-hour. It was great. We also tried bowling for the first time. I have to admit, memories of my own childhood surfaced, as we tried to convince Harrison to "just have fun." He wasn't immediately good, so he was discouraged. Again, the yin to our yang, Anderson, had fun despite his shortcomings. He would roll the ball down the lane and yell, "I'm a winner!" (except he pronounced it, "weiner," as in Oscar Meyer). Harrison eventually came around, and since he wasn't much worse than his mother, he was okay with his score.
We had a lot of fun this summer, and we're looking forward to more adventures in the future!
